Learn the fundamentals of makeup artistry with emphasis on retail cosmetic and corrective techniques. Intermediate Makeup Artistry - Course 102 (50 hours)

This is an intermediate level course for students with basic knowledge of professional makeup. This course is designed to enable the artist to brush up on basic makeup skills and advance their artistry techniques to the next level. Through lecture and hands on practice, students will develop speed and confidence in the areas of cosmetic color selection, style, and fashion. They will learn the basic principles of straight corrective makeup along with advanced color theory. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to employ straight corrective techniques and successfully deal with more challenging environments.

Pre-requisite: Basic Makeup Artistry or equivalent experience as a cosmetologist, esthetician, or other professional in the beauty and/or cosmetic industry. An assessment of knowledge and skill equivalent to completion of Basic Makeup Artistry will be given.

    Portfolio Photo Shoot - Course 202 (8 hours)

    All freelance make-up artists need to have a professional portfolio. This course is designed for graduates of The Make· Up Artist School's Course 201: Advanced: Photography Makeup Artistry. The photo shoot allows the student artist to experience working with a professional photographer first hand. The professional set becomes the classroom and the artist becomes part of the creative team, working with the hair stylist, clothing stylist and professional models. One to two weeks after the shoot, the class will meet back at the school for a critique of the shoot and an opportunity to learn from reviewing their photographs with other students and the instructor.

    Pre-requisite: Photography Makeup (201) and Permission of the Instructor

    Note: At the time they enroll, students will receive written instructions for the shoot including the date, time, name of the photographer, address and directions. It is the students' responsibility to insure they arrive on time and with their professional makeup kit.

    This course will cover:

Examples of community service opportunities include working in hospitals, burn centers, shelters and senior centers.

We can often help people see their inner beauty as well as enhancing their outer beauty. To accomplish this we need good makeup artistry techniques, but we also need superior communications and human relations skills. This Career Skills course has been designed to highlight some of these essential additional skills you will want to take with you to every job.

    Industry Savvy/Job Search - Course 602 (10 hours)

    Pre-requisite: Basic 101 or Intermediate 102 Makeup Artistry

    Getting and keeping a job requires more than just knowing how to do a successful makeover. This course is designed to teach how an industry works, review its specialized vocabulary, employment options, career opportunities, what jobs are right for you, how to secure an interview, and skills to help you turn the interview into a job offer. After the offer, you need to know how to assess the job, what's expected of you on the job if you accept it, and how to turn a job into a career.

    The structure of this course will remain the same and the topics listed below will typically be covered. However, the content will vary depending on the other courses that will feed into it. The course will be scheduled after the completion of Basic Makeup Artistry classes and Intermediate Makeup Artistry class. The content after Basic will focus on the retail cosmetic industry. After Intermediate Makeup, this course will focus on the freelance and multilevel industries. Thus, students are encouraged to take Industry Savvy/Job Search after each 100 series course is completed.

    This course will is designed to help students understand the business of freelance makeup artistry and the multilevel cosmetic industry. The course will be scheduled for students to take after the completion of the Intermediate Makeup Artistry and/or more advanced classes such as Photography or Theatrical Makeup and TV/Film classes.
