The following special considerations apply to our TV/Film courses.

 

1)   A Materials Fee will be charged for all TV/Film courses at Enrollment.

 

2)   Students will also be required to have a makeup kit with specific makeup and supplies needed for the course.

 

a)   A list of makeup and supplies and some local vendors will be provided by the Admissions Counselors or may be obtained from the Senior Instructor.

 

b)   Students may purchase their makeup and supplies from any source providing “professional quality” items.

 

c)   As a convenience, students may purchase complete kits through the school.

 

d)   The school sells kits and brush sets only. We do not sell individual items. 

 

e)   Those students who already have established kits should bring them to the first class.  The instructor will assess established kits to determine if the students will need additional makeup or supplies.

Introduction to TV/Film: Theatrical Makeup

Course 501   (45 hours)

 

In this dynamic course, learn the basic principles, techniques and skills of makeup as art and as a necessary tool for actors, designers and technicians. This course lays the foundation for the advanced levels of makeup artistry necessary for the professional makeup artist contemplating a career in the Television, FX and Motion Picture industry. Students will be taught principles of makeup application required for theatrical and stage productions through a series of lectures, demonstrations, drawing assignments and practical experiences.

 

Pre-requisite: Intermediate (102) and Photography Makeup (201) or equivalent education and experience. An assessment of knowledge and skill will be given when applying based on equivalents.

FX Makeup for Theatre, Film & Television    

Course:  502   (45 hours)

 

This exciting course is designed for student wishing to the gain specialized and in-depth know how to create realistic-looking effects suitable for the camera. Horror makeup, special effects, latex and prosthetic application are just some of the Hollywood Magic you will explore in this course. The student will also learn the techniques of three-dimensional makeup. The instructional method of this course is primarily drawing assignments, lecture, demonstration and hands-on experience.

 

Pre-requisite: Theatrical Makeup (301) or equivalent education and experience. An assessment of knowledge and skill will be given when applying based on equivalents.

OUR COURSE GOAL ~

AT THE END OF THE COURSE, SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS SHOULD BE able to:

 

1)       Demonstrate proficiency in the application and employment of appliances or prostheses.

 

2)       Accomplish full skills in the utilization of nose putty, cotton, liquid and foam latex and related products.

 

3)       Prepare, conceive, design and realize partial and full facial prosthetics.

 

4)    Fully produce an FX prosthetic from the point of conception and sculpting to an applied, painted and working product.

Television, Film & Theatre Program (TVFT)

Course:  503    (90 hours)

 

 

This comprehensive course combines Courses 501 and 502.  It is a complete basic program for the aspiring theatre, television or film makeup artist. The instruction will include the basic principles, techniques and skills of makeup as art and as a necessary tool for actors, designers and technicians along with specialized training detailing the techniques to create realistic-looking effects suitable for the camera. Horror makeup, special effects, facial hair, latex and prosthetic application are just some of the Hollywood Magic you will explore and conquer through the duration of this course.

 

Pre-requisite: Photography Makeup (201) or equivalent education and experience. An assessment of knowledge and skill will be given when applying based on equivalents.
