Supplies and Materials

The Professional Beauty E-Training Center is committed to maintaining uniformity, high standards, and a mark of excellence throughout our instructional program. One of the ways we accomplished this is to use quality professional cosmetics in our classrooms.

The Professional Beauty E-Learning Center provides all supplies needed for the Instructor to demonstrate course material. Many Instructors supplement these instructional supplies with their own materials from their professional makeup kits.  Students should be aware that professionals develop their kits over many years and everything shown in class may not be necessary for either a beginning artist or an artist in practice.

For Basic and Intermediate Makeup Artistry, The Professional Beauty E-Learning Center provides every four students with one set of materials for working in the classroom.  Since students work in teams of two, it is not necessary for each student to have his/her own in-class kit. Typically, classroom makeup and supplies provided by the school include:

- Spatulas                     - Latex Sponges

- Mirrors                        - Mascara

- Cotton Swabs              - Cotton Balls

- Tissues                       - Powder

- Lipstick                       - Lip and Eye Pencils

- Facial Care Products    - Concealer

- Foundation                  - Eyelash Curler

- Brush Cleaner              - Makeup Brushes

- Eye and Blush Colors   - Disposable Mascara Wands

- Makeup Palette           - Disposable eye color applicators

Additional supplies such as the following are provided for TV/Film, Theater and FX.

¨       Spirit Gum Adhesive

¨       Crepe Wool for Hair Work:

¨       Beards, mutton chops, side burns, eyebrows, etc.

¨       Special Effects makeup for cuts, bruises and discoloration

Makeup, Kits, & Materials for Purchase

Makeup, makeup kits, brushes, and some related supplies are available for student purchase.

While makeup kits are not required for 000 or 100 series classes (Avocational and Makeup Artistry Fundamentals Courses), many students choose to make purchases so they can practice out of class time or take advantage of student discounts to begin building their professional kits.

Makeup Kits and/or supplementary makeup and supplies are required for many of the upper level courses (200 series courses and above).

·         All required purchases are explained by the Admissions Counselors prior to enrollment and

·         Are detailed on each student’s Enrollment Agreement.

·         See Schedule of Fees for details.

Kits for Purchase:

The Professional Beauty E-Training Center has worked with a local retailer to compile the same high quality makeup and supplies used in class into the following professional kits. The kits are available for our students to purchase from a retailer in the One Pacific Plaza complex. Students wishing or needing to purchase kits should get a current price sheet and contact and payment information from their Admissions Counselor.

Professional Beauty Kit .........................................................$225.00

Professional TV/Film Makeup Kit.............................................$425.00

Professional Paramedical Kit………………………………………..$275.00

Professional 10 piece Brush Set............................................. $  60.00

·         These materials are not considered eligible for return or refund under the state’s guidelines for Enrollment Cancellation and Return of Equipment and Supplies.

Makeup for 100 Series Courses:

All necessary makeup and supplies are provided for student use in entry level courses (100-199).

No practical makeup application homework is required and these students are not required to purchase any makeup or makeup supplies. However, students have the option to purchase the Professional Beauty Kit for their personal practice and use.

Makeup Kits for  200 Series Courses and Above:

Students enrolling in the Photography, Introduction to TV/Film, FX and others courses numbered 200 and above are typically required to purchase the appropriate kits and to bring them to each class meeting. (Note: the Paramedical Makeup Kit is Optional).

Whenever possible, we have designed it so that students may make an initial purchase of our Professional Beauty Kit (Basic) and then buy Upgrades to add required and/or supplementary makeup, supplies and materials for upper level courses.  This helps to keep student costs to a minimum.

The Basic Beauty Kit is appropriate for students taking Basic and/or Intermediate Makeup Artistry but is not required at that level. It is the required Kit for Advanced: Photography Makeup Artistry.

The Theatre and TV/Film courses require the purchase of additional materials for specific course instruction. These kits have the materials they will be using in class.  They will also be useful by serving to form the basis for the students’ personal/professional kits, which are necessary for work in the freelance makeup artistry industry. For students who have already purchased the Basic Beauty Kit, the Theatre/TV/Film Kit is an upgrade of about $200.

Materials Fee:

In addition, students will be charged a Materials Fee in addition to their tuition for the FX Makeup for Theatre, Film & Television course.  The cost will be approximately $85 and will cover materials such as Ultra Cal 30, Foam, Liquid latex, etc.  The exact cost will be shown on the Schedule of Fees in effect at the time of the student’s enrollment.

The Brush Set is appropriate for artists at all levels, but is not required if the student has an adequate personal set (determined by the instructor at or before the first class session).
