Admissions

Admission to The Professional Beauty E-Learning Center requires the completion of an Admission Application prior to enrollment.

Acceptance for the entry-level courses is based upon evaluation of the applicant’s creativity, motivation, and career desires along with prior training and/or experience.  For some courses, prior training and experience may be a factor in enrollment decisions.

Requirements for Admissions:

Requirements for admissions vary depending on the course and level.

Assessment of Prior Knowledge

Prospective students will be given an Application for Enrollment.  The Application is a short question and answer form to help the admissions and instructional staffs understand the applicants’ career interests and prior knowledge relative to the field. This questionnaire will not be used to determine acceptance or rejection for admission to entry level courses but may be used for placement purposes relative to upper level courses.

Students seeking admission to upper level classes based on experience and/or courses taken at other schools will be given one or more written assessments to determine their level of knowledge and their ability to handle the course material.  The assessments include but are not limited to questions currently on the written final examination for courses the applicant wishes to waive.

Students will discuss their prior experience and the results of their Admissions Assessments with an Admissions Counselor.  In some cases, the prospective student will also communicate with an instructor or administrator to insure appropriate placement in classes.

In those instances in which the applicant’s practical and theoretical skills, knowledge and abilities are sufficient based on the applicant interviews with Admissions and Academic Staff and written and/or practical assessments, prior education or experience may be accepted in lieu of prerequisites for advanced courses.

As a dynamicE-Learning Center, focused on academic and professional excellence, we strive to continually improve our courses and course offerings.  Alumni from the physical school will see that many of our traditional courses have been redesigned, rewritten and substantially more hours of practical application is now required.  In some instances, additional subjects are covered and in others, a different level of competency is expected of our students.  Alumni may choose to repeat a course previously taken because of the new and expanded course content.

No credit will be given for experience or courses taken at other schools and reductions in course costs will not be made.  Courses taken at other schools will not be shown on The Professional Beauty E-Learning Center Transcript.

PLACEMENT DISCLAIMER:

The Professional Beauty E-Training Center provides training in makeup artistry at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.  Our expertise lies in the field of instruction. Our goal is to provide students a strong foundation in the makeup artistry skills needed to seek employment or to create or expand their free-lance businesses. Since this is an artistic field, students with varying natural abilities will develop and reach different levels of expertise at different times and with different amounts of instruction.

In addition, there are many other factors outside the realm of our educational program that influence employability in makeup artistry.  These include but are not limited to human relations skills, personality, sales and management skills, and other issues affecting personal promotion in fields with high degrees of close human contact.  Other factors include the economy and seasonal job fluctuations. Thus, The Professional Beauty E-Training Center makes no guarantees of employment or employment at a particular wage rate.

JOB/CAREER SKILLS COURSES

At The Professional Beauty E-Learning Center, we believe job skills such as personal image, personal presentation, job search techniques, interviewing, communications, human relations, values and work ethics can and should be taught as part of responsible career education programs.  Combined with quality makeup artistry training, these elements help make our graduates truly self reliant and responsible for their continued employment.

We try to instill in our students an understanding of the need for continuing education throughout their careers.  Armed with our career skills course information, graduates can change jobs and progress up various career ladders as their makeup artistry skills grow and mature and as they add to their skill sets through continuing education.

We encourage all students to take our Job Skills and Image courses.  These courses may be taken as stand alone courses. However, as an incentive to encourage all students to take these courses, we have developed Programs that include Job Skills and Image courses in combination with Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced level courses.  Students may realize enrollment discounts by registering for Programs as opposed to taking the same courses on an individual basis.

EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT and JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE

The Professional Beauty E-Learning Center Instructors and staff work to maintain liaisons with area employers to insure our courses are up-to-date and meet industry needs for trained makeup artists. We also work with employers to help them find qualified individuals to meet their employment needs. We are constantly seeking and inviting area employers to form alliances with the Network in order to provide more job opportunities for the members of the Network.

Many employers call us when they have openings to fill and we make every effort to find qualified graduates and students to meet those needs.  Unless the positions are filled immediately, jobs are usually posted on the Network at www.professionalbeauty.net.

In order to get additional exposure, we also recommend the beauty professional place their resume and/or portfolio (book) on the Makeup Artist Network or include a biography in the Network Directory.
